***The Political Shirt***
This shirt represents the political spectrum. The tie-dyed part of the shirt represents the left side of the spectrum; and the white side represents the right side. The left side is liberal and the right side is conservative. All the issues that are labeled on the tied- dyed side are liberal issues and all the issues that are labeled on the white side are conservative issues.

How a Bill Becomes a Law
The stool my partner and I created basically represents the process in which it takes for a bill to become a law. The stool has three legs and each leg is necessary in order for the law to stay standing. Every leg has a label. The first leg has the label of “the house of representatives” the bill has to get passed through this leg first. Secondly the bill has to pass through the senate and this would be the second leg. The third leg of my stool is labeled “sign by the president” that is the final step in order for a bill to become a law.

I will be discussing my opinion on Abortion, The Environment, Gay marriage, Drug laws, Universal Health care, Taxes, the War in Iraq and Gun Control. All of these issues relate to civics and politics in our country.
Abortion is a major issue in our country. I personally think it is a wrong action to take because it is very selfish and rude. Having an abortion has a huge impact on the woman. For example my friend had an abortion and now she feels guilty and she will feel that way for the rest of her life.
Our environment is very important; it is also crucial we keep it healthy. My opinion is that whatever we have to do to make it a good place to live we should do so. Many people don’t care about our earth. They also don’t care about the pollution from factories, cars and the burning of coal. We all have to realize that Mother Earth is our home and any law that can be passed to protect her should be passed.
Gay marriage is a choice between two people. I believe everyone has a choice an opinion; and every single one should be valued. In my opinion people who are gay are born that way. Because of people’s harsh judgments, it has led many gay teenagers to suicide. It is a huge disappointment that people could be so cruel to gay people.
I am definitely anti the drug law. My opinion on drugs is that it is wrong to let drugs be legal. Drugs kill and separate so many families. I bet there is statistic that shows how many families are torn apart because of drugs. In my opinion it would be wrong not to be able to be in control of your body.
My opinion on universal healthcare is that it should be approved. Wealthy people should be able to pay for health care. People who need help for paying for healthcare should be able to get it through our taxes. For example the government should help a family with a low profit.
Taxes get many people fired up in America. I think that taxes should be a flat rate. For example, it doesn’t matter how much money a person makes there should just be a certain percentage charged to everyone who lives in the United States. My uncle has a flower shop business and just because he makes a good profit doesn’t mean he should get charged extra when he does his taxes.
The war in Iraq was pointless to me. America needs to make sure we actually know why we are going to war. In my opinion it was wrong for us to assume that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Many soldiers were taken away from their families for pointless reasons. If the United States wants their oil we should just pay for it and take it peacefully if it is allowed.
I think there should be strict laws for gun control. Even if you want to keep a gun in your house it should always be in a safe place away from children. Many accidents in America have happened because of the lack of strict gun laws. For example in my old neighborhood when I was a child my friend found a gun in her dads garage, at that moment I went and told her dad. As I think to my self I wonder what could have happened if I would of stayed quiet.
All in all on many issues I tend to be more liberal than conservative. It is very important that we have a sufficient process to value every single opinion, in America. As I stated my opinion on the 8 issues that were the most important to me I think to myself and wonder what will be done in American politics to change some laws.
Songs Related to U.S foreign policy
In my History Through Music Class I recently studied three songs, which are definitely related to the U.S foreign policy. Each song dealt with U.S Imperialism, and many examples of how the U.S intervened in other countries, to serve our own monetary interests. The three songs are “Call It Democracy” by Bruce Cockburn, “Head of State,” by The Coup, and “Hang a Flag In Your Window” by David Rovics.
The song, “Call It Democracy” basically gave me the impression that the US is a great place to live, but there are many things we need to change. For instance the US tries to over take other countries by paying them off and if they don’t take the money we kill them. The United States of America basically doesn’t like anyone who disagrees with us.
The song “Head of State” by The Coup is basically about how the Iraq War started, and our involvement with Iraqi War. It also mentions “The Shaw” who we hired as their leader. The people didn’t like him but he was in power for 26 years. He ruled by terror.
Last but not least the song, “Hang a Flag in your window” by David Rovics. This song talks about a lot of things more recent to our times. It speaks about the war in Afghanistan and how after 911 how bush wanted to get all the terrorists and send them to the Guantanamo Bay where we could torture them. It also talks about Cointelpro which was from 1956-1971 and it was when the FBI was ease dropping on people.
